But getting there required questioning everything we thought we knew about lip care.

The idea started during 18 years spent living and working in Antarctica—one of the harshest environments on Earth. Extreme cold, relentless wind, and UV radiation bouncing off endless ice. If lip care didn't work there, it simply didn't work.

I learned firsthand what effective lip protection requires. But I also learned what doesn't work: heavy formulas that suffocate skin, products that melt and re-solidify into unusable clumps, and worst of all—lip balms you have to reapply every 20 minutes.

That constant reapplication became the central question: Why does every lip balm have such a long ingredient list, yet none of them seem to last?

Those questions led to HydraEssence.

We partnered with an experienced American manufacturer who shared our commitment to simplicity. Together, we built our formula around just 7 core ingredients:

That's our foundation. Every flavor is built on those same 7 ingredients—plus a touch of flavor where applicable.

What's NOT in HydraEssence

Just as important as what we put in is what we leave out:
